The Reframing Investigations Summary report, (which can be found in the Feasibility Studies tab below) effectively marks the end of the 7 years of investigations that GWRC has been conducting on water storage options for Wairarapa. This report, pulled together a number of information sources that, for the first time, took account of the Ruamahanga Whaitua Implementation Plan outcomes together with a series of specialist background reports conducted for the Reframing Investigations.
It also marks the end of central government’s (through Crown Irrigation Investments Limited) current involvement with the project in the form of a mutual funding agreement; that funding source is longer available. This assistance has been greatly appreciated. Likewise, the Greater Wellington Regional Council’s involvement with project investigations has ceased as was intended at the outset when it entered into this work.
The momentum provided by the Water Wairarapa investigations has now been placed in the hands of Wairarapa Water Limited; a company set up to now raise and spend its own funds on the project investigations.
